Launching the Excavator Demo Scene on a Distributed Simulator with Unity Graphics

It is possible to quickly test a distributed simulator using Unity graphics via the Vortex Demo Scenes content package. 

All Vortex assets and Unity asset bundles are included. 

The Unity project at Demo Scenes\Unity\EX Demo is the source project that contains all assets that were packaged in asset bundles for this demo.

Configuring and Launching the Simulator

  1. Install Vortex Studio and the Demo Scenes.

  2. Launch the Vortex Director application. For more information on using the Director, refer to this page: Vortex Studio Director.

  3. Go to Settings... and select Vortex Studio installation directory resources/config as simulator files folder.

  4. Create a new simulator file.

  5. For the Setup file, browse to and select: <Demo scenes installation>\Demo Scenes\Resources\config\DemoConsoleUnity.vxc (or wherever it is installed).

  6. Add a simulator application.

  7. In the Node column, select Engine.

  8. Add another simulator application.

  9. In the Node column, select Console.Operator.

  10. In the Executable column, select Vortex Unity.

  11. Save the simulator file.

  12. Launch the simulator using the Launch button.

  13. In the Console, select the Excavator Equipment and the bucket type.

  14. Click on Select Exercise.

  15. Select the Simple Practice Exercise.

  16. Press the LOAD button to begin the Exercise and start the simulation.

  17. Press A on the gamepad to start the Excavator engine.
