Adding Rotor Wash

This feature is available only when using the legacy OpenGL renderer.

In marine scenarios, you can add a rotor wash effect, e.g., to simulate the effect a helicopter propeller would have on the surface of the ocean.

To add rotor wash:

  1. Select Marine in the Toolbox.
  2. Double-click Rotor Wash to add it, or drag it to the desired location in the Explorer panel.

The rotor wash z position must be above zero so that the effect becomes visible. The default value after drag and drop does not allow the effect to become visible.

In the Properties panel, configure the following fields:

  • Direction: Specify the direction of the rush of air causing the wash effect. Values can span between -1.000 and 1.000. For example, a Direction of (0.000, 0.000, -1.000) means the air travels straight down.
  • Velocity: Specify how fast the rush of air causing the wash travels.
  • Rotor diameter: Specify the diameter of the rotor causing the wash effect.
  • Spray effect: Check this box to enable water spray from the rotor effect.
  • Decal effect: Check this box to have a circular wash effect on the surface of the water.
